Most organisations do not need another lawyer on retainer. They need people inside the business who can recognise a legal problem while it is still small. That role barely existed a decade ago, and it is being filled right now.
In compliance, contracts, procurement, HR and operations, the expensive problems are the ones nobody recognised as legal until they were already legal. Being the person in the room who spots that early is a role organisations pay for precisely because it prevents the invoice rather than following it.
This is a Master of Legal Studies: it is designed for professionals who deal with legal questions in their work without being lawyers. It is not a law degree and does not qualify anyone to practise law, and that is the point. It gives you the literacy without asking you to change profession.
